Turning Search Data Into Product Opportunities
Metaltex BENELUX manages over 300 SKUs on Bol.com. While that provides scale, it also creates a challenge: where to focus? We approached this by using Bol.com’s own Zoektrends tool to track real-time consumer interest across key product categories.
We analyzed terms such as:
droogrek (4,359 monthly searches)
wasrek inklapbaar (1,020)
droogtoren, wanddroogrek, and droogmolen camping
These terms were then grouped and scored based on volume, seasonality, and competition, giving us a clear roadmap of where to act.
Finding Untapped Niches
Beyond general keywords, we drilled into long-tail and subcategory terms. For example, we identified a niche like:
"droogrek hangend" (wall-mounted drying racks)
This term had:
Solid search volume
Consistent seasonal peaks
Relatively low product competition
This opened the door to a new product suggestion backed by both search demand and low saturation — a true data-led opportunity.
